During a recent visit to Johannesburg the team at Mowbray Cemetery and The Moslem Cemetery Board, had the opportunity to meet with Saaberie Chishty, a key organisation in burial and funeral services in the area. The team was given a comprehensive tour of their advanced facilities, which include specialised areas for the ritual washing of the deceased, known as the ghusl facility, as well as the on-site mortuary where muslim bodies are respectfully kept pending burial. The experience provided valuable insights for the Cape-based cemetery board, highlighting best practices that can be adapted for their own local initiatives in bettering services in the Cape.
